University Police

As one of the 29 state-operated campuses within the State University of New York system, Farmingdale State College is committed to providing a safe and secure learning environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors. The Farmingdale State College University Police Department operates 24/7/365 with a staff of 25 full-time employees who are professionaly-trained as New York State certified Police Officers, responsible for patrolling the 380-acre campus, enforcing all New York State laws as well as campus rules and regulations. They are the first responders for the students, faculty and staff on campus for all emergencies.

University Police Officers patrol the campus by vehicle, foot or bicycle at all times. This includes the department's primary jurisdiction consisting of all property owned and/or controlled by the college as well as adjacent and adjoining roadways. In addition to regular campus patrols, the campus residence halls are also monitored through an electronically-controlled card access system.

The University Police Department practices community policing principles, fair and impartial policing methods and provides educational crime awareness, crime prevention and safety programs for students and staff alike. The University Police Department is available to respond to campus incidents 24 hours a day by calling (934) 420-2111 and they are located across from the BioScience Park, next to the Ornamental Horticulture Gardens.
