Frequently Asked Questions
I missed the deadline for filing out the intent to graduate form. Can I still attend the Commencement?
Students must complete ITG by deadline in order to participate in the Commencement ceremony. Failure to meet the deadline may result in your name being omitted from the Commencement program and delay you from receiving your diploma.
You must fill out the Intent to Graduate form in order to be approved for graduation.
Do I need to have a cap and gown to participate in the Commencement ceremony?
Students can purchase regalia in-person at the Bookstore starting April 13. Pre-ordered regalia can also be picked-up beginning April 13 at the Bookstore.
All students must have the new official FSC branded regalia in order to participate in commencement.

How do I get tickets to Commencement?
Students received an email from Tassel regarding Commencement ticket requests. The deadline for ticket requests, as well as additional ticket requests is Friday, April 24.
Students will be allotted 6 guest tickets and will be distribution by the Nassau Coliseum via Ticketmaster.
Tickets will be available approximately one week prior to the ceremony. To access tickets, students will receive an email from the Coliseum with instructions to register for a Ticketmaster web account using their FSC email via a specific Ticketmaster link.
In addition, the ceremony will be streamed live on our website so that family and friends can celebrate this special occasion from anywhere. Students are also welcome to check with their classmates, as some may have extra tickets they are not using.
Can food be purchased at the Coliseum?
Will gifts be available for purchase?
Yes. There will be a vendor outside on the plaza and on the concourse for any families that wish to purchase gifts for students.
How long is the ceremony?
Where do I pick up my Award for Academic Excellence and Latin Honors Award?
Students who receive an Award for Academic Excellence can pick-up a green and white graduation cord by presenting their award letter to the Registrar staff during regular business hours.
Students who receive Latin honors can pick up a gold tassel at the Registrar during regular business hours. The Registrar will have a list of Latin honors students.
One of my guests has special seating needs. How can I arrange for appropriate seating?
Since all tickets for Commencement are general admission, accessible seating will be arranged on the day of the event through Nassau Coliseum Guest Services center.
If you require accessible seating, please visit Guest Services upon arrival, and the team will be happy to assist you.
I need special accommodations. How can I arrange for this?
Please email the Commencement Committee by Friday, May 15 at commencement@farmingdale.edu.
Will my picture be taken at the ceremony?
Yes, your picture will be taken and will be available for purchase.
Pre-Commencement portraits can be scheduled via Island Photography at the Grad Fair or at the Island Photography Studio location.
When will I receive my diploma?
Diplomas will arrive within approximately three months from the end of the semester in which you graduated.
Is there a bag policy?
Nassau Coliseum strictly enforces a no-bag policy, with a few exceptions. While purses, backpacks, and other large bags are prohibited, guests may bring small clutch-style bags no larger than 4.5" x 6".
