Dental Hygiene Continuing Education
Mandatory Continuing Education
On July 11, 1996, Bill 7324A was passed by the Senate and the Assembly requiring that
every TRIENNIAL registration period, registered dental hygienists must complete a
minimum of 24 contact hours of education, inclusive of the previously required mandatory
child abuse and infection control training approved by the State Education Department.
Farmingdale State College is an approved provider of continuing education credits
in New York State for both dental hygienists and dentists; the American Academy of
Dental Hygiene is the approved NYS sponsor.
Virtual Continuing Education Offerings
Due to the coronavirus pandemic which has affected us all, the Dental Hygiene Continuing
Education Department at Farmingdale State College has decided to offer all of our
course offerings for the spring 2021 semester to be done virtually. All courses offered
meet the requirements for live credits to be applied towards the required 24 contact
hours of continuing education instruction needed every triennial registration period.
For registrants to receive their appropriate credits and certificates of completion, the following requirements must be met:
- Registrants MUST register online for courses they would like to attend at least 5 days prior to the course date.
- Registrants MUST be present for the entire course session to receive credit.
- Attendees will receive a specific code during the course to submit at the end of the class to receive their certificate of completion.
- Attendees must submit an online survey at the completion of each course to receive their certificate of completion.
